What does it mean to be Queer and vegan?
This project explores the connection between animal rights and gay rights through in-depth interviews with LGBTQ+ individuals on why they stopped eating animals, how sexual, gender and racial marginalization relates to animal exploitation, and why veganism is an integral, albeit complex, part of the social justice movement. Former vegans and vegetarians who are LGBTQ+ are included in this project in order to capture the significance of sexuality and gender identity in the rate of vegan/vegetarian recidivism.
